Good day for 2nd and 3rd XIs
The 1st XI is well ahead with its fixtures and had no game this weekend but the 2nd and 3rd XIs both had important league matches.
The 2nd XI produced probably its best performance of the season against the league leaders Ulster Elks at UUJ. Queen's dominated the early exchanges but went a goal down when Elks scored an excellent goal on a counter-attack. However, they continued to play well and Eve Grimason equalised following a corner. QUB were again the better side in the second half and went very close on a number of occasions with Tori Moss, Becky Gamble and Rachel Calvin all shooting just wide. The game finished 1-1 and while Queen's will be a little disappointed not to have taken all three points it should give them a real confidence boost as they go into the last third of the season. The 3rd XI produced another very good display of controlled passing hockey, this time against Coleraine at Upper Malone. Goals from Ashley McLaughlin and Louise Allen in the first half and from Katy Foreman and Holly Wales in the second half were enough to see them through to a comfortable 4-0 win and retain their 100% record in the league.
